Energy sovereignty in the Mekong delta

The Mekong River winds for 4,350km—beginning in the mountains of Tibet to the South Vietnamese lowlands. With an estimated 40 million people living along its banks and millions more dependent on its fisheries, it is an ecosystem of major international importance. Over the past two decades, hydroelectric dams which provide have begun to dramatically change the river system’s ecology and the lives of those who inhabit its peripheries.

This series of mappings explores the current state of energy production and consumption at different scales throughout the Mekong Delta.
